A cap protects a broken, weak or root-canal-treated tooth. A bridge fills the gap left by a missing one. Choose PFM, zirconia or E-max, see the price for your teeth, and get the final cost in writing after a ₹300 check-up.

Six reasons people get a crown, and what usually helps
Not every damaged tooth needs a cap. Here is when one makes sense, with our Janakpuri prices.
After a root canal
Back teeth turn brittle after a root canal. A full cap stops them cracking when you chew.
Broken or cracked tooth
If too much of the tooth is lost for a filling to hold, a crown holds it together and restores the shape.
Large old filling
A tooth that is mostly filling can split. A crown covers and protects what is left.
Worn or short teeth
Teeth worn down by grinding or acid can be built back to the right height with crowns.
Old cap with a dark line
A grey line at the gum is usually the metal inside an old PFM cap. Swap it for zirconia or E-max.
A missing tooth
A bridge fixes a new tooth to caps on its neighbours. An implant replaces it without touching them.
PFM, zirconia or E-max: which cap for which tooth?
Tooth cap price in Janakpuri depends mostly on the material. Pick the tooth to see what is usually suggested.
PFM crown
Porcelain fused to a thin metal shell. The long-standing, lowest-cost option.
- Lowest price of the three
- Strong enough for chewing teeth
- Metal can show as a thin dark line at the gum over time
For a back tooth on a tight budget, PFM does the job well.
Zirconia crown
A solid, tooth-coloured ceramic that is very hard to break, with no metal inside.
- Very strong, also used for bridges
- No metal, so no dark line at the gum
- Can look a little more solid-white than E-max on front teeth
A strong, metal-free choice for front teeth too.
Strong for chewing, with no metal: the usual choice for back teeth.
E-max crown
Light passes through it much like natural enamel, so it blends in beside your own teeth.
- The most lifelike shade and translucency
- Metal-free and stain-resistant
- Less suited to very heavy biting or long bridges at the back
The one people choose when the tooth shows in every smile.
Not sure? You don't have to choose now. Dr. Kalpana suggests a material after seeing the tooth, your bite and your budget. Prices vary case to case; the final quote comes after the check-up.
Dental bridge or implant: see the difference
Both give you a fixed tooth you don't take out. The difference is what holds it: your neighbouring teeth, or a new root in the bone.
Bridge Price after check-up
- No surgery, usually at least two visits
- Fixed in place, cleaned like your teeth
- The teeth on both sides are shaped for caps
Implant From ₹15,000 with crown
- Neighbouring teeth are not touched
- Replaces the root, which helps keep the bone
- Small surgery, then a few months of healing
A missing tooth. Left open, the teeth beside it can slowly tilt into the space and the bite can change.
Getting a crown, step by step
Usually at least two visits. You know the cost before anything starts.
Check-up and X-ray
The dentist checks the tooth, the root and your bite, and tells you if it needs a root canal first.
₹300 · written plan & costTooth prepared
The tooth is numbed and gently shaped, measured, and shade-matched to its neighbours. You leave with a temporary cap.
Preparation visitCrown made in the lab
Your PFM, zirconia or E-max crown is made to the measurements and shade.
Temporary cap meanwhileFitted and checked
The crown is tried in, the bite is adjusted so it feels right, and it is cemented in place.
Fitting visit
Bridges follow the same steps, with the teeth on both sides of the gap prepared at the first visit.

When we'll tell you you don't need a cap
A crown means shaping the tooth, so it should be the right call. If something smaller will do, you'll hear it first.
Small cavity? A filling
A small hole or chip is usually fixed with a tooth-coloured filling (₹500–1,500), no cap needed.
Front tooth after RCT
Front teeth sometimes need only a filling after a root canal. Back teeth usually need the cap.
Gums and decay first
Bleeding gums or decay under an old crown are treated first, so the new crown fits and lasts.
Can't be saved? We'll say so
If a tooth is too broken to hold a cap, the dentist explains the options: an implant or a bridge.
Crowns, caps and bridges: your questions
How much does a dental crown (tooth cap) cost in Janakpuri?
At Sharanya Dental and Implant Care, Janakpuri, a crown costs ₹2,500–4,000 in PFM (metal with porcelain), ₹7,000–12,000 in zirconia and ₹10,000–15,000 in E-max, per tooth. The check-up is ₹300. Prices vary case to case, and you get the final quote in writing after the check-up, before any work starts.
Is a tooth cap the same as a crown?
Yes. A cap and a crown are the same thing: a tooth-shaped cover made to fit over the whole visible part of a tooth to protect it and restore its shape.
PFM, zirconia or E-max: which crown is best?
It depends on the tooth. For front teeth, E-max or zirconia usually look the most natural. For back teeth that take heavy chewing, zirconia is strong and has no metal, and PFM is the budget option. PFM has metal inside, which can show as a thin dark line at the gum over time. Dr. Kalpana suggests a material after seeing the tooth.
Do I need a crown after root canal treatment?
Usually yes for back teeth. A tooth becomes more brittle after a root canal, and a crown protects it from cracking when you chew. Front teeth sometimes need only a filling. The dentist advises after checking the tooth.
How many visits does a crown take?
Usually at least two. At the first visit the tooth is shaped, measured and given a temporary cap. The final crown is made in a dental lab and fitted at the next visit, when the bite is checked. If a root canal is needed first, that adds visits.
Does getting a crown hurt?
The tooth is numbed before it is shaped, so most people feel only pressure. It can feel a little sensitive for a few days afterwards, which usually settles. A tooth that already had a root canal often needs no injection at all.
What is a dental bridge, and how much does it cost?
A bridge replaces a missing tooth by fixing a new tooth to caps on the teeth on either side of the gap. It is cemented in place, so you don't take it out. The price depends on how many teeth are in the bridge and the material, and the dentist confirms it after the ₹300 check-up.
Bridge or implant: which is better for a missing tooth?
Both are fixed. A bridge is quicker and needs no surgery, but the teeth beside the gap are shaped to hold it. An implant replaces the root in the bone and leaves the neighbouring teeth untouched; it needs a small surgery and a few months of healing. At our Janakpuri clinic an implant with its crown starts from ₹15,000. If the teeth beside the gap already need caps, a bridge can make sense; if they are healthy, many people prefer an implant.
How long does a crown last?
Many crowns last for years with good care. Brush twice a day, clean between the teeth, avoid biting very hard things like ice or bottle caps, and come for regular check-ups. If you grind your teeth at night, a night guard protects the crown.
Will the crown match my other teeth?
Yes. The shade is matched to your neighbouring teeth before the crown is made. E-max and zirconia give the most natural look; PFM looks tooth-coloured but cannot let light through like a natural tooth.
Why is there a dark line at the gum on my old crown?
That is usually the metal inside an older PFM crown showing at the edge, often after the gum shrinks back a little. It can be replaced with a metal-free zirconia or E-max crown matched to your shade.
Can I eat normally with a temporary crown?
Yes, but chew on the other side where you can, and avoid sticky or very hard food until the final crown is fitted. If the temporary comes off, keep it and call us.
Is EMI available for crowns and bridges?
Yes. EMI is available through Bajaj Finserv and GMoney, subject to approval. Ask at the clinic or on WhatsApp at 84488 66205.
