Why is your hair falling?
Six common reasons. The doctor works out which one is yours before suggesting any treatment.
- Genetic thinningHair slowly thins at the crown or hairline in men, or along the parting in women. This is the type PRP is most often used for.
- Shedding after illness or stressHeavy shedding a few months after fever, surgery, childbirth or a stressful time. It often settles once the trigger has passed.
- Thyroid, iron or vitamin problemsA blood test can show a deficiency or thyroid problem behind the hair fall, which needs its own treatment.
- Hormonal changes and PCOSHormonal conditions can cause thinning in women and are treated alongside the scalp.
- Dandruff and scalp conditionsSeborrhoeic dermatitis, psoriasis or a fungal infection of the scalp needs treating before anything else.
- Round bald patchesPatchy hair loss (alopecia areata) is treated differently from PRP.
What happens in a PRP session
PRP uses your own blood, so nothing foreign goes into the scalp. Sessions are repeated a few weeks apart as a course.
- 1
Scalp check
Dr. Sakshi Singh examines your scalp and hair and decides whether PRP suits the cause of your hair fall.
- 2
Blood sample
A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm, as in a routine blood test.
- 3
Platelet-rich plasma
The blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma that is rich in platelets.
- 4
Scalp injections
The PRP is injected into the thinning areas with fine needles. You go home the same day.

What does PRP hair treatment cost in West Delhi?
At Sharanya, PRP for hair is ₹4,500 per session. It is given as a course of sessions, and the doctor tells you how many after checking your scalp.
Does PRP work for everyone with hair fall?
No. PRP is mainly used for genetic thinning. Hair fall from thyroid problems, deficiencies, dandruff or illness needs different treatment, which is why the cause is checked first.
Is PRP painful?
You will feel the injections on the scalp. Ask the doctor about ways to make the session more comfortable.
When will I see results?
Hair grows slowly, so changes are judged over months rather than weeks. The doctor reviews your progress between sessions.
Is PRP done for women too?
Yes. PRP is used for thinning hair in both men and women, when the cause is one that PRP can help.
